Aloha Friday: The Moving Begins

It’s time for another Aloha Friday, the day that you take it easy and look forward to the weekend, in Hawaii and blog land anyway. As you should know by now, over at An Island Life, Kailani decided that on Fridays she would take it easy on posting and ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.

If you’d like to participate, just post your own question on your blog and leave your link at An Island Life’s blog. Don’t forget to visit the other participants! It’s a great way to make new bloggy friends!

Tomorrow the moving company is coming to pack up all my belongings. From there we’ll be spending a couple days with my father until the moving company comes back to load our belongings and head to Dream State, with us following shortly behind. We’re probably crazy busy today so I’m typing this up a week in advance, being all planny and dreaming of life on the other side of this move. Anyway, my Aloha Friday questions for this week are…

  • What’s the farthest you’ve moved away?
  • Do you live in the same state / area as your parents and / or in-laws?
  • How many times in your life have you moved?
  • If you could move anywhere, where would you go? Would you go?

Have a great weekend!

Texas to Georgia (at least as an adult)
Heck no…they are all in Texas!
    Too many times to count.
I’m pretty happy right where I am!

I have moved many times. The house I’m in now, I’ve been here about a year and a half.

My parents live about 130 miles away. We visit every couple of months.

I have not moved very much. I went away to college, but then came home, got married, and bought a house right in the same city I grew up in!

I would actually not mind moving south somewhere! Maybe North Carlonia or Virginia!

I was born in Los Angeles and now live in Santa Barbara – about 100 miles away. My parents both also live in Santa Barbara. I have only lived in two towns but I have moved more times than I can count. I am hoping to move to Boise in the future.

I’m originally from Oregon, I went to school outside of Boston. So I’d say that’s the farthest I ever moved from home.

Right now we live close to my parents, far away from his. Most days we’re happy with that arrangement.

I still live in the same state — 5 mins. from my mother-in-law and 15 from my mom. I just want to live in the country.

I live 150 miles from my folks and I do miss them, even though they come to stay regularly. It works out about a two hour drive. I would love to move to Florida, that has always been a big dream. Good luck with the move.

I moved from Ut to England w/ Hubby after we were married.

Parents still live in Ut; I’m in EXTREME So Az.

    11 or 12?

Further north towards a BIG city! lol

Can’t wait to hear where you’re moving. Have guesses but…
    Good luck tomorrow!!!

I grew up in rural midwest. My parents moved all the time, we counted like 17 times or something like that. I live in Chicagoland now, 3 hours away from them. In laws live just 10 minutes away, however, they know their boundries which is rather nice. If I were to pick somewhere….I love Colorado…especially the springs area….absoultely beautiful there. New mexico also has some nice areas that I have found in my travels. Maybe I will win the lottery and have multiple homes…..great questions.

I’ve lived within the same 15-20 mile radius my entire life. Pretty much all of my family and my husband’s family are close. I moved once as a kid (right before 5th grade) and then I moved out of my parents’ house into the house we live in now. I’d love to live in NYC for a little bit, but it is just way too expensive. I’m always trying to convince my husband to move to Florida, but he just won’t go for it. I love warm weather and Disney World so it seems like the perfect place to live in my book. I’ve also always wanted to live in CA. The weather is just so beautiful there.

You know most my answers (I think) but I’ll refresh your memory.
-Furthest away 6 and half hours 400 miles I’d guess?
-Don’t live in same state as any of my family. Thankfully were only 3 hours away now.
-Number of times I’ve moved. 1. Parents house to their rent house when I married the hubs. 2. Big move to small town East Tx. 3. Down the street in small town East Tx. 4. Moved to Tyler. 5. Moved down the road in Tyler. 6. Moved to the other side of Tyler again. 7. Moved to North Tx. First time I’ve ever written it all out. All in 10 years.

The farthest I’ve lived from my parents is 90 miles! I went to college far enough away that I couldn’t commute, but close enough to come home on the weekends if I wanted to. So this cross-country move is a pretty big deal for me! I’ve never lived in any other state.

Not counting college this will be my 4th move. When i was in 8th grade we moved across town, when I got married I obviously moved into our new house, and then we moved to his house 7 years ago.

I’ve pretty much stayed close to home although I’m not living in the same state I was raised in. If I could move anywhere and money was no object…an island somewhere where everyone isn’t in a rush to get somewhere.
