It’s time for another Aloha Friday, the day that you take it easy and look forward to the weekend, in Hawaii and blog land anyway. As you should know by now, over at An Island Life, Kailani decided that on Fridays she would take it easy on posting and ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.
If you’d like to participate, just post your own question on your blog and leave your link at An Island Life’s blog. Don’t forget to visit the other participants! It’s a great way to make new bloggy friends!
My husband has gotten REALLY into cooking lately. At this point I’ve pretty much given into the obvious and accepted that he is a much better cook than me – and he LIKES it. These days he does all the cooking for dinner, yes even on week nights. Don’t hate me because I hit the marriage jack pot. 🙂 Anyway, he loves to cook and does a great job but he still asks me to plan the menu for the week / month – as in, give him an idea and let him run with it. It’s the laborious task of deciding WHAT to cook that he doesn’t like, at least not on a daily basis and he loves my monthly menu plans. So I’ve continued making the menus and he cooks the ideas I come up with, occasionally changing things up entirely when he gets inspired.
But… I’m running low on ideas and I’d really love to give him some new recipes to try. So my questions for you are…
- What is your favorite dinner recipe? (Feel free to include a link if it’s online)
- Do you like to cook? How about your spouse / significant other?
- Who does what in your household (I’m guessing my grandmother and I aren’t the only ones with aspiring chefs for husbands)?
- What’s for dinner tonight in your household?

I’m leaving town, going to my parents house so not sure what’s for dinner there…def. fresh veggies I just got out of the garden! 🙂
I like cooking steaks (when we have them) and chicken enchiladas. We use a lot of hamberger…but get tired of tacos and chili.

My favorite recipe was actually what we had for dinner tonight! I ate a meal at a restaurant that is super far away from me so I had to figure out how to recreate it at home. It isn't exactly the same but I think it might be better. It is a chicken, marinated artichokes, mushrooms and pasta in a cream sauce.

I’m the only one in the family that cooks. If I don’t cook, they don’t eat. 🙂

I love baking way more than cooking. My hubby loves cooking.

I WISH I had a hubby who loved to cook; not so here. But I do have three big guys who LOVE to eat, meat preferably. Me, I’m happy with a tomato and cheese sandwich or cheese and crackers.
But . . . I usually end up cooking meat and potatoes for my guys and salad for me.
I LOVE to go out and I love pizza at home, too.

I make Aloha Chicken…the recipe sounds crazy but I’ve given it out to a couple of friends and they’ve all loved it too.
I buy chicken thighs because they’re cheap…and you rub the chicken with paprika, onion powder, garlic salt, and pepper. Then, you mix about a cup and a half of ketchup, 3/4 cup brown sugar, 1/4 soy sauce, and 1 large can crushed pineapple. Pour the mixture on top of the chicken and bake at 350 for one hour!

I like to cook & I do the majority of it. Hubby doesn’t like to cook but he does do an awesome job on the grill & w/ homemade chili.
My favorite recipe is pork tacos w/ pineapple salsa. Man is it yummy! It has pork tenderloin cut up & cooked w/ pineapple (fresh is best) & papya . Then it’s rolled up into a sm size flour tortilla w/ a little bit of grated monterey jack. Place on a cookie sheet & spray w/ butter cooking spray & then bake in a 375 F oven until light golden brown.
If you want the salsa recipe (it’s a fresh salsa that’s super easy) let me know.

# How about your spouse / significant other? My hubby doesn’t mind cooking, but he only does basics like spaghetti & hamburger helper – though he does a mean pizza crust, something I can’t do very well.
# Who does what in your household? I do most of the cooking with hubby helping. Occasionally he will cook when I am busy or burnt out.
# What’s for dinner tonight in your household? I promised my son I would make Shepherd’s pie tonight. Here is the recipe: http://www.recipezaar.com/Shepherds-Skillet-307136

Aloha:) I actually hate to cook. Which is bad, because I have a husband and 5 hungry children….I did go through a phase where I liked it, but it didn’t last. I try to do healthy fresh things that I can just throw together, but once in while I have to cook. One family favorite is Boeuf Bourguignon (Beef Stew With Red Wine) that I saw years ago on the today show–I looked up the link from my recipe print out–its still there. lol. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6408670/ anyway, it’s from Ina Garten. A lot of ingredients, but pretty foolproof. Great for winter! Oh. my husband is useless for cooking. BUT, several of my kids love it and they treat us pretty often now that they are older:)

I love to cook. My favorite dinner recipe is lasagna. We don’t have it much because it is a bit of work, but I still love it.
I do most of the cooking, but hubby will do basic cooking too. That comes in very helpful when I’ve premade most of the meal.
Tonight we’re having meatball pita pockets. Yum!

My favorite…easy…Sweet and Sour Meatballs! I do not like to cook, but DH does, which is nice. He prefers to grill but whatever gets me out of cooking is fine by me!
I tend to take care of everything concerning dinner throughout the week as DH gets home well after dinner time.
Tonight? Maybe pizza. We do takeout on Fridays…

You should check out OrgJunkie.com, every Monday people link up with their menu plans for the week and usually have great recipes too. There’s usually a good 300 links to check out and get great ideas.
At this point we’re flying by the seat of our pants and going with whatever my mom cooks…it’s kind of driving me crazy to not have some kind of control.

Recent favorite dinner recipe one is Eggplant Italian in the slow cooker. Just made it the other day and it was amazing. Here is a link to photos and the recipe. http://www.theangelforever.com/?p=1491
I am ok with cooking, but hubby likes it more. Thanks to this and his willingness to try more items he does most of the cooking. Hubby does 99% of the dinner cooking and I clean up the mess he makes. Tonight we are probably having left over 16 bean, barley and veggie soup – another slow cooker recipe. Lots to do this weekend for son’s 6th B-day party.

I’m so jealous that your husband likes to cook. My husband needs me to hold his hand to make Kraft Mac n Cheese. And I’m not kidding. 😦
I love allrecipes for dinner ideas. There is a really yummy bow-tie sausage pasta recipe on there that we all love. Not exactly healthy, but it is very good.
I’m still trying to decide what to make tonight. It will be something that is easy since it is Friday.
Have a great day!! 🙂
