I just went through a mountainous pile of magazines that had been building since oh July or so – so I had to laugh when I read this post by my bloggy friend Vivienne @ Serendipity. She listed out and photographed all the magazines she has around her home and dared us to do the same. I probably won’t take pictures as I’m operating one handed at the moment (it’s burping time folks!) but here’s a list of the usual suspects that take up home on my desk and kitchen table…
- American Baby (I think it just expired, not sure if I’ll renew)
- Cookie (expired, I’m still holding onto a few old issues)
- Parents (will probably never expire)
- Family Circle (expired ages ago but I keep buying it in the stores, really should renew)
- Kraft Food & Family (I don’t think they are printing it anymore which makes me pretty sad)
- Modern Bliss (local magazine, it’s actually free)
- Rolling Stone (For Hubby, actually just expired, not planning to renew)
- High Five by Highlights (for MM, about to expire but I plan to renew)
- Your Big Backyard (for MM)
A lot of old and new, things I subscribed to for whatever reason and may or may not still want, and of course there a few I’d like a subscription to but don’t have right now… Just for fun, here’s my dream subscription list…
- Family Circle
- Parents
- Food Network Magazine
- National Geographic Little Kids (for MM)
- High Five by Highlights (for MM)
- Your Big Backyard (for MM)
- National Geographic Traveler
- Weight Watchers
- Cooks Illustrated
- Modern Bliss
How about you? What magazines do you subscribe to? Which ones would you like to subscribe to?

I don’t have a subscription right now, but the one I try to always get is Family Fun. It’s extremely awesome if you have kids!

I get Real Simple (a gift from my MIL) and InStyle. I get the Kraft food mag for free. I would love a cooking mag like Cooks Illustrated or Cuisine at Home but then I’d probably have to cook 😉

I only get Metropolis.
I’d like to get Gourmet or Food Network Magazine. Or any food type mag, actually. I love looking at the pics (even the meat dishes)! 🙂

I don’t subscribe to any magazines, is that weird? I used to get Parents, but I got mad at them when they got rid of their 9-13 part of “As They Grow.” Parents acts like we stop parenting at age 8. And if you look through the articles, I’d say that 90% of them are geared towards either pregnancy, babies, toddlers, and maybe preschoolers. I have three kids, and two of them are teenagers, and I’m still parenting. I’m not sure why they think I’m not. But I’ve never seen an article in that magazine like “How to Help Your Child Navigate Junior High”, or “When Your Daughter Wants to Have Sex With Her Boyfriend”, or “How Not To Have A Stroke When Your Child Starts Driving.” They had one article one time that made me laugh really hard. It was called “How to Stop The Backtalk At Every Age.” You know how far they went, age-wise? SIX. They stopped at SIX. Because kids stop talking back at six, right? I hate to tell them, but at six, the backtalk is only beginning. I didn’t see any hints on how to stop the backtalk at 13, which is when you REALLY need that advice. Anyway, I canceled that magazine because what it should really be called is Parents of Babies and Toddlers. In case you can’t tell, I’m still a little irritated about that. 🙂
I’d love to have a subscription to People, and O Magazine. Those are about the only two I ever buy in the store.
