Today, my princess is four.

blowing out the candles

Last night we celebrated with a few friends over grilled hot dogs and brats, Mexican coca colas, strawberries, watermelon, yard games, Dairy Queen Ice Cream cake and everything Princess.

Today my little girl is four years old. She’s an immensely independent, sassy, silly little girl who knows exactly what she wants out of this wold (PINK! RAPUNZEL! TIARA! CAKE!) and how to get it. She gives the sweetest kisses but will also dish out a few pushes and shoves when necessary.

She’s forever keeping us on our toes, mixing things up lest we get too comfortable in her world. She will swing from the monkey bars with no warning but may be absolutely terrified of going down that big slide. She will beg and plead to wear giant, glittery costumey dresses and tiaras to Walmart but at her Princess Birthday Party, when told she can wear absolutely any dress she wants – she’ll grab a nice, sensible cotton number simply because it has pretty flowers on it. Today. Tomorrow is anyone’s guess.

Happy birthday to my sweet and sassy Princess.

May you always march the beat of your own drum.

May you always feel like a Princess inside and out.

May you always keep us on our toes, surprising and delighting us and simply being YOU!
