apple picking, pretty flowers and bourbon apple pie.

apple picking

We took the kids apple picking a couple weeks ago at one of our favorite apple orchards. Historically, apple picking has not always been super fun. It’s a long, hilly walk and up until recently we always seemed to have a baby stroller and children in need of a nap. Add in hot weather and an unpredictable selection and well…

This year was better than most and we managed to hold our tempers in check long enough to get a bag filled to the brim with apples and some cute pictures of our kids to boot. Not a bad way to spend a Sunday morning!

flowers

Of course you can’t take me anywhere and expect me not to stop and take 900 pictures of flowers that other people probably walk by without ever even noticing. I was a happy instagrammer that day.

apple pie

I knew just the thing to do with all those apples. Ever since seeing this recipe for Bourbon Apple Pie @ A Beautiful Mess, I haven’t been able to get it out of my mind. It took me a week but I finally made it happen. Home made pie dough and everything!

This recipe was super easy to put together, especially if you have one of those handy apple peeler corer slicer dohookies. I’m so glad we bought one many moons ago, even if I only pull it out of the cabinet once every two years or so. It was supremely appreciated yesterday. And my house smells amazing and bourbony. So that’s cool, too.
