I feel like I’ve been super ranty lately. In spite of it being a tiny bit warmer than the winter months, we’ve had a lot of rain and gloomy skies and surprisingly chilly temperatures for April, leaving our trees just absolutely confused about what season it is. And this seems to make momma grumpy and causes me to dwell on all the less than awesome things happening.
So I noticed that fellow blogger Nicole at Gidget Goes Home participates in a link up hosted by Amy at Mom Advice asking you to share three things that are making you happy this week. I thought I’d play along today and give the power of positive thinking a try.
Here are my three little things…
1. After wearing the same rain jacket for over two years, we finally got the kid a new one. The control freak in me is stupidly happy that it doesn’t have those little thumb holes that his old jacket had. Those were cute for about twelve minutes and then it was two years of “for the love of god, take your fingers out of the thumb holes before you eat that!” Seriously though, he loves the new jacket and he has plenty of room to grow in it in case we wait another two years before noticing that he’s older again.
2. Lately BB has been doodling in this adorable little notebook and I noticed the other day that all of the drawings are of cupcakes. She calls it her cupcake journal – super cute, no? I forgot to take a picture of some of the cupcakes she’s “selling” but I’ll try to do that soon!
3. But speaking of artwork, MM drew another family portrait and it’s making me all kinds of happy every time I look at it. I think my favorite thing is the perspective and attention to detail. This is a view of our living room in which you see me and the kids sitting on a white couch, with Dan sitting next to us on his favorite leather chair. The giant green lump in the middle is our second couch which never seems to get used, followed by a brown wooden chest that my dad made me many moons ago and our flat panel TV hung on the wall. And our nifty floor lamp in the very foreground of course. I also appreciate that he made me smaller than in his last one. Little things, clearly.

What a great list of happiness! And I agree, what’s up with the thumb holes…seriously. 🙂 Thank you so much for participating this week!!
