Tale as old as time.

One of the prompts for Mama Kat’s Writer’s Workshop this week was:

5. If you had to choose a Disney princess to live the rest of your life as…which princess would you choose and why?

Much like Kat, I have to say my answer would be Belle. It’s always been Belle, really, since the first time I saw Beauty and the Beast as a young girl. Don’t get me wrong – there are a lot of  great princesses that have come along – each with their own merits.

I love that Elsa doesn’t need a prince or king to make her happy and it would be awesome if the cold never bothered me anyway – but I think I’ll pass on her seriously messed up childhood, thanks.

Her sister Anna is perpetually cheerful and optimistic and in a lot of ways I’d LOVE to be Anna. She gets, by far, the best of the princes (I realize he’s not actually a prince, this does not bother me in the least) and her attitude takes her far in life. But again – messed up childhood – and truthfully, I’m a bit too skeptical to pass for Anna and I don’t mind that.

Mulan is brave ; Snow White cleans like a boss ; Cinderella totally wins on the rags to riches contest ; Rapunzel is spunky as all heck and can pull off any hair style ; Merida is fiesty and, well, brave, and has the best accent. I could go on. Disney has given us plenty to choose from.

But at the end of the day, I think anyone who knows me – knows that I’m this girl:

I want adventure in the great wide somewhere. I can totally relate to Belle’s wanderlust.

I would absolutely lose myself in that castle library. Head stuck in a book? Check.

I think Belle’s father is awesome and in a lot of ways I can relate to her relationship with him.

Gaston is the worst and I love that Belle doesn’t just swoon for the obvious town heart throb like all the other girls.

It’s not right for a woman to read. Soon she starts getting *ideas*, and *thinking*…

Um, magical talking and dancing silverware that serves me elaborate french dinners and desserts?

And maybe every girl doesn’t dream about marrying a big hairy beast, but when my husband’s beard borders on out of control, I realize…

I might actually be Belle.

Which Princess would you be?

I mean really, with a library like that you don’t need a Gaston OR a Beast! 😉

I haven’t thought of this before…I might have to think on it some more. But, yeah, no Anna or Elsa…I think Belle has a pretty good head on her shoulders, so maybe I’d like to be her, too!

It seems like a lot of us are choosing Belle – but really bookish introvert who doesn’t necessarily follow societal whims? Belle would totally be a blogger today.

Belle is amazing! Like I said over on Kat’s post, she was completely my second choice.
I struggled internally with Belle Vs Jasmine! The tiger though, and a magic carpet. I couldn’t resist.
