Last night the Top 12 boys performed at Motor City on American Idol – singing for America’s vote for the first time. Overall I thought the boys did a good job. I watched the auditions this year, following their journey so far so I already had a pretty good idea about who I liked and who I was still kinda meh about. You can see how I voted above.
I really like the new voting capabilities – I think the easiest voting method is to simply search for “American Idol” in google. A little voting widget appears at the top of the page like the picture above and you can click on the pictures of the person you want to vote for and then select how many votes you want to give them. Super easy, no need to register for anything or download anything or make any phone calls.
I gave 3 votes to my 3 favorites of the night, and two to the other 5 contestants that I really liked as well. The fact that I really liked 8 performances is rather indicative of how the night went because I don’t always like that many people this early on. I think a lot of the guys have the potential to win the whole thing this year which is nice to see because the boys on Idol have been largely uninspiring to me since Phillip Phillips won a few years ago (although I loved Alex Preston last year).
I thought Quentin Alexander, Mark Andrew and Nick Fradiani did especially well and are currently my front runners. I’m looking forward to seeing how the Top 12 girls do tonight.
